Assocation of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS)

Six of our members had a treat this weekend.  A very special day out and all a bit of a secret as our rendevous point was within the private grounds of Windsor Castle. As a thank you from the ADLS for the ladies that helped with he catering at the Veterans Cruise last september. We had a day out on a Dunkirk Little Ship, though windsor and finishing with a picnic beside the Thames in the Castle grounds.

Hampton Court Palace Walk – Review

Great Walkers group outing last weekend.  Kit, Chris, Delia, Eve, Chrissie, Gerry, Loraine & Myself with 2 spaniels, a border collie and a long haired dachshund.  We completed  a circular route which took around 2 hours so  guess about 5-6 miles (forgot to turn on the tracker this time)  Starting a the Diana fountain car park in Bushy Park the guidebook route would take us via the Palace gardens but you now pay for this so we looked at an alternative beginning.

HCP Walk

So we headed through Bushy Park to Kings Gate and across the road then back into home park by the Old Kings Head pub by Kingston bridge.  Heading towards the golf club we passed the ice house and eventually arrived at the end of the long water; with spectacular views beyond the fountains looking back towards the palace.  From here we continued easterly taking us past Ricks pond and out onto the Thames towpath for a walk back to the Palace where we stopped for tea in the Tiltyard café before crossing back over the road and into Bushy Park and to our cars.

For a shorter and when the summer flower show is over you can access Home Park via the Paddock gate and taking the route marked in blue on the map along the long water to the end to join up with the route we followed.

A number of the group had never ventured into that part of Home Park so it was nice to introduce our group to something new right  on our own doorstep.
